Who doesn’t love getting drunk and eating shitty pizza? Pizza! Pizza!
Little Caesars has one of my favorite logos/mascots. The company was started by husband and wife Mike and Marian Ilitch, and apparently she nicknamed him “Little Caesar.” So when they needed a name for the restaurant, that was it. The original logo was even sketched on a napkin by a friend.
The mascot got a little cleanup recently. Most importantly, he shaved his chest hair. His weird scarecrow hands became actual fingers, the laurel wreath was cleaned up, and even his toga got a few extra folds and a little “LC” worked into it.
The redesign was done by Turner Duckworth, one of my favorite branding agencies. I like that they didn’t completely redesign him. He’s still the same weird little pizza-eating Roman dude, just cleaned up enough to work better now.
